About the author

Born in 1988, Agata Buczek graduated in Architecture and Urban Planning from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. For several years, she worked as an architect and interior designer, yet painting – present in her life since childhood – ultimately became her primary path and a passion that fills her everyday life.

She mainly creates large-format oil paintings rooted in the style of magical realism and surrealism. Her work is figurative, rich in symbolism and metaphor, with a strong narrative foundation. The worlds she builds on canvas are both fairytale-like and deeply psychological – infused with imagination, yet reflective of human nature.

A second distinctive style in her work is contemporary impressionism. Here, the artist employs intense colors, thick impasto strokes, and dynamic light effects to create compositions that transport the viewer into a sensual and immersive world.

Another significant current in Agata Buczek’s art is abstraction. Her portfolio includes works created with diverse techniques and media – oil, acrylic, and various textured materials. Despite this wide range of forms, her paintings share a common thread: a coherent expression, characteristic sensitivity, and a subtle play of emotions.

Her creative process is an intimate journey into emotion and intuition. She draws inspiration from seeking what lies beyond the obvious – from unspoken thoughts, hidden meanings, and feelings that words cannot capture. She compares painting to writing a book, where each canvas becomes a chapter in a greater story, and each layer of paint reveals what remains unseen in everyday life.

Nature and the fragility of childhood sensitivity, which she interprets as a metaphor for adult emotions, desires, and dreams, remain central to her inspiration. She loves to play with scale and space, guiding the viewer into dreamlike, magical scenes where the boundaries of reality dissolve. Balanced composition and delicate handling of atmosphere give her works the feeling of a dream – filled with nostalgia and tender wonder.

Her paintings are part of numerous private collections in Poland and abroad. Each work is an invitation to a personal journey into imagination and emotion – art that demands reflection and rewards the viewer with a new perspective. She successfully collaborates with art galleries and regularly participates in solo and group exhibitions, as well as art events, continually developing her work and exploring new means of expression.
