“To Look Deeper”
Oil on canvas, 110 × 100 cm
Magical realism
The painting presents a seemingly simple scene: in the quiet of a forest clearing, a girl stands facing a massive toad — a creature on the boundary between the real and the symbolic world. Yet what matters most does not occur within the depicted space itself, but in its reflection — on the smooth surface of water, which becomes a second, parallel world.
In the mirrored image, instead of the toad, a boy appears. His presence suggests that what is visible on the surface does not always reveal the full truth. The toad — a symbol of transformation, weight, and experience — may be merely a form beneath which something far more human is hidden: emotions, memories, and stories that are not immediately apparent. The girl’s reflection also does not replicate her real posture — the altered pose reveals inner tension, a different emotional state, a thought or feeling that remains unspoken.
Water becomes here a metaphor for the subconscious — a place where images transform and meanings are not literal. It is there that the weight of experience is revealed, not through gestures, but through subtle shifts of form and symbol. The painting speaks of the idea that true encounters — with another person and with oneself — require attentiveness and the willingness to look beyond first impressions.
The composition invites the viewer to pause and “read” the scene again. It is a painterly reflection on hidden emotions, the layered nature of human identity, and the need to perceive what is not immediately obvious. The painting does not offer clear answers — instead, it invites us to want to see more.
Each painting is created only once, it is unique.
Original works, apart from aesthetic values and a deep message, have a high collector’s value.
